MediQuest Panel Test Demonstrates Underarm Hair Growth Control

(Bothell, WA - February 21, 2005) MediQuest Therapeutics, Inc. announced today at the 63rd Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in New Orleans that data from a human panel study showed application of an anti-perspirant formulation containing its MQX-2030 significantly decreased the growth of underarm hair.

The 9-week, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study consisted of 12 female volunteers who normally shave their underarms every day or every other day. Each volunteer was randomized as to which underarm area received the anti-perspirant formulation containing the MediQuest Hair Growth Control agent (MQX-2030), while the volunteer's other underarm area received a matching anti-perspirant vehicle. The primary endpoint was the volunteer's perception of decrease in hair growth, with secondary endpoints of photographic and hair weight differences, which were determined at the end of week three and week six.

At the end of the first three weeks of application, five of the twelve (42%) who were applying the active twice a day identified one underarm area as having less hair than the other. In each case the volunteer correctly identified the area receiving the active agent. This increased to eight of twelve (67%) by the end of the second three-week period of applying the active twice a day. The photographs of the underarm areas confirmed the differences noted by the volunteers. There were no treatment-related adverse effects for any of the volunteers
