Technology Overview
- Proprietary Drug Delivery Technology - The Company has entered into an exclusive license for a topical drug delivery technology that is being used by both of the Company's clinical-stage drug candidates. This in-licensed drug delivery technology is being developed as a proprietary formulation applicable to all of the topically-delivered core drug candidates that the Company currently intends to commercialize. The Company has also filed additional patents to protect this unique emulsion delivery technology.
- Diverse, Biologically Active Compound Library - The Company has created a substantial and diverse library of biologically-active, proprietary polycationic compounds with the potential to yield significant near-term revenues. The Company has demonstrated that this library of novel compounds yields a higher proportion of promising drug candidate "hits" than traditional methods of drug discovery such as random combinatorial screening. As families of drug candidates were identified, patent applications have been filed covering their specific compositions and uses.
- Efficient Cell-Based Screening System - The Company employs a proprietary cascade of biological screens and cell-based assays, to rapidly eliminate those compounds with undesirable characteristics, and to select only those compounds that have the desired profile of safety, efficacy, and a novel mechanism of action.
- DNA Microarray Technology - The Company has patented DNA microarray methodologies for the discovery of differentially expressed biomarkers of diseases and of responses to drugs and toxins.
